Steering systems specialist, Pailton Engineering, has appointed Steve Nollett as its new Key Account Manager. Born and raised in Coventry, Steve first began working on the factory shop floor as a teenager. Now, after working in a multitude of different manufacturing and engineering roles over the years, he is branching out into the commercial side of the business for the first time.

In the current climate, many UK manufacturing companies are struggling to recruit the talent needed for key positions. Those that can find that talent locally are fortunate to do so. As a specialist mid-volume manufacturer of steering parts for buses, commercial vehicles and military vehicles, Pailton Engineering occupies an important niche in the manufacturing supply chains for some of the world’s largest OEMs.

When looking to embark on a new five-year growth strategy, the company turned to Steve Nollett to fill the important role of Key Account Manager. Steve will work alongside Head of Sales, Roger Brereton, to help Pailton strengthen relationships with its existing customers, while exploring new opportunities from the growing electrification of commercial vehicle fleets and buses.

Steve’s own multifarious career history makes him a uniquely valuable appointment to his latest position. After university, he returned to Pailton and began working in planning, production engineering, quality production and most recently, manufacture engineering.

With the company wanting to expand further, Steve sensed an opportunity to use his experience to branch out into a commercial role. ‘‘I always knew that one day I would want a more commercial role and with the product and process knowledge I bring, I can really offer something unique,’’ explained Steve.

His immediate priority in this new role will be strengthening relationships with Pailton Engineering’s existing customers and ensuring they are satisfied with the quality of parts they are receiving. ‘‘After two years of covid restrictions, it’s really important that we get out there and meet our customers face-to-face to ensure we are doing everything we can for them,’’ he added.

‘‘With our five-year plan and the new opportunities we are seeing as a result of electrification, this is an exciting time for Pailton Engineering,’’ explained Roger Brereton, Head of Sales. ‘‘Steve’s product and process knowledge means he brings unique experience to the role and now is the perfect time for him to support the commercial side of the business more.’’

At a time when ONS data is reported as showing 130,000 manufacturing job losses since the beginning of the pandemic, Pailton Engineering’s continued growth will be welcome news to many. The company is investing in local talent like Steve and plans to hire a New Business Development Manager too. If you think you are the right person for the role, why not contact the team today?
